The high-volume Kawarau River is bursting with adrenaline, and this trip will challenge your nerves from start to finish.
Conquer grade 2 and 3 rapids and become king or queen of the river, riding the rapids on a bodyboard. Enjoy surfing standing waves, riding whirlpools and eddy lines, as well as catching some underwater currents if you are brave enough.
River surfing in Queenstown is best suited for people who want the full white water experience.

Basic swimming skills are required by all participants. Skills needed are moving forward with a freestyle kick, turning and balancing.

The bodyboards are light and highly manoeuvrable, allowing you to be more active in the water. It’s the perfect choice for someone looking for the ultimate adventure.

Requirements

Everyone must be able to swim, be confident in water and reasonably fit. The skills needed are moving forward with a freestyle kick, turning and balancing Minimum age for River Surfing is eight years old. A private guide is provided for children under 13 years of age — this must be pre-arranged.
